FSB launch British Small Business Champions 2008

Terry Lane - Thursday 24.01.08, 11:10am

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) has launched its 2008 search to find the best thriving SME UK based business that is well managed and highly regarded by both its staff and customers.

To qualify for the British Small Business Champions 2008 (BSBC) UK business award, businesses must have been trading for at least five years at the time of entering and employ no more than fifty staff.

Six Area Champions will be chosen from across the UK and will then compete for the prestigous title of the British Small Business Champions 2008 in a national final. The 2008 winners will receive prize money of £10,000.

“There is a misconception at the moment that it is the BPs and Shells who are the backbone of the country. In fact it’s the small business person who’s got seven employees - they’re the backbone and not the big employers.” - Sir Alan Sugar

Last year’s winner Sarah Green, 1st For Furniture, BSBC Central Area Champion 2007 says:

“Since winning, my company has a leading edge over competitors, which in turn has made us more popular with customers, as we have been recognised for customer service and for the many who buy at a distance, have been verified as a properly established company. Our competitors can compete on price and lead time, however, they cannot compete with our BSBC award!”
